The comprehensive optometer first appeared as an instrument to check the function of the external eye muscle. In the early 20th century, the function of the instrument was added to the function of refractive examination by introducing a mechanized transfer lens, so the English name was changed to “Phoropter”.
Since the comprehensive phoropter puts almost all the lenses in the ordinary lens case into its rotating system, it provides a more effective and faster lens conversion possibility in clinical operation than using the trial frame optometry. Through a simple knob, the required lens can be quickly converted, which is especially suitable for complex subjective optometry.
From the history of the development of the instrument and the change of the name, it can be found that the comprehensive phoropter can not only be used for ametropia inspection, but also has the ametropia inspection of the external eye muscle, and also has the functional function of checking the external eye muscle. As a basic inspection tool for ophthalmic vision workers, its role is irreplaceable.
M600 model has background light for better illumination.
